Centre for Ecological Philosophy

TEAM

Emma Mcloughlin (She/Her)

Anthropologist

Emma Mcloughlin is an anthropologist who finds herself in the intersection of the arts and the sciences. Having completed a BA in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, followed by an MA in Material and Visual Culture at University College London, Emma combines these interests by exploring visual culture in the Anthropocene.

At the Centre for Ecological Philosophy, Emma is continuing to collaborate with Alan McFetridge’s work on Landscape Fire and how transdisciplinary photographic practices can help us navigate these precarious and troubling times. Guided by anthropological and ecological principles and training, she asks, how can photography bring value to communities affected by fire and lead to alternative modes of compassionate learning, imagining, and sharing?

Antoinette Johnson (Any Pronouns)

Researcher and Writer

Antoinette is a researcher and writer who recently completed their undergraduate degree in English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London. Prior to joining the Centre for Ecological Philosophy, their research has been primarily interested in the relationship between 19th Century western scientific developments and literature, theatre, art, photography and the every-day performance of the self or persona. Ultimately, their work is rooted in recognition of the importance of forming interdisciplinary approaches to critical race theory and considerations of contemporary Colonialism, oppression, marginalisation, othering, and subjugation across socio-economic institutions.

Mohamed Mazy
Data Scientist

I am Mohamed Mazy, I got my bachelor’s degree in computer science at Université Nice Côte d’Azur in France.

I have always wanted work as software developer after my graduation. But during my third year university I have been selected by Google London to participate in a machine learning workshop in Paris in order to discover the data world. After this experience I knew that I want to work in data. So I have started my master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence that I will get in August 2022.

Eriz Yusuf (He/Him)
Data Scientist

Eriz is an aspiring data scientist who recently completed his degree in Computing at the University of Greenwich in London. He will be working with Alan and the team to help collect data from satellites to give the fires visual representation from a different kind of perspective.

His interest in data has stemmed from a very early age from the fascination with order. Data can follow a standard or it can become sporadic and unpredictable, he enjoys looking at all of the different aspects of why data can become so different over time, Eriz's main practices use python libraries to extract and sort data into different kinds of visualisations such as graphs and maps to try to understand and explore different kinds of data.

Igor Augustynowicz (he/him)
