In May 2016, a wildfire nicknamed ‘the beast’ consumed 588,000 hectares forest, 2800 homes and unreported industrial infrastructure used in the extraction of bitumen from the tar sand. became the most costly natural disaster and biggest mass evacuation in Canadian history.
No stranger to the boreal, fire is a common occurrence here, primary to the nature of its regrowth patterns. With twice as much area burned in the past 20 years the function of the Boreal Forest as a green lung to the planet has changed.
In a collaboration with GF Smith and Parke Communications. The paper 'Extract' is made from recycled coffee cups and printed with plant based ink.
